And the Nominations are…..

JDIFF would like to congratulate the 3 Irish Nominations in the 82nd Oscars. Cartoon Salon’s first feature animation, The Secret of Kells has been nominated for Best Animated Feature Film of the Year.

Director, Tomm Moore’s feature animation premiered to a full house as part of JDIFF earlier this year closing the festival on a high note for Irish animation. This international co-production was brought to fruition by the award winning team, Cartoon Saloon. Featuring the voice talent of Brendan Gleeson, Mick Lally, Evan McGuire and Christen Mooney, this spectacularly beautiful animation tells a tale inspired by the creation of The Book of Kells.

Describing the work of Cartoon Saloon Festival Director, Grainne Humphreys said ‘The Award-Winning members of Cartoon Saloon have produced a breathtaking film, a story of a young boy whose curiosity lures him into a world of the imagination, a spectacular world which inspires him. After seeing the film, you will never feel the same’

The Irish animation company also featured as part of the Irish Talent Spotlight at JDIFF, an initiative run in conjunction with Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB), designed to profile and foster exceptional new and established talent working in all areas of the Irish film industry.
