The quest is on….
- JDIFF 2010
Here we are again in the run up to next film extravaganza that is JDIFF and the quest for the very best cinema is definitely on.
Here at JDIFF HQ we are already well and truly on the hunt for some serious cinematic gems for the next festival. To this end our intrepid festival director, Grainne Humphreys, has headed off to the Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF). Where is that I hear you ask… PIFF takes place in South Korea’s second largest city Busan and is a serious heavyweight in the East Asian Film Market, this year PIFF will screen 355 films from 70 countries and Grainne will put in some marathon viewing time. Let it never be said that here at JDIFF we don’t go to the absolute ends of the earth to find the very best cinema for the Dublin audience.
On a strict diet of at least six films day, that’s not the only stop Grainne will make on her quest for cinematic brilliance. Recently back from film festival mecca, Toronto International Film Festival, Grainne will also be paying visits to Thierry Fremaux’s (Festival Director - Cannes Film Festival and recent Volta recipient at JDIFF) brand new festival, the grandly named Grand Lyon Film Festival, featuring Clint Eastwood, as its guest of honour and of course she will be paying a visit to our neighbours across the water at London Film Festival. I’m hoping to swing by LFF myself so I’ll let you know how I get on.
Notice anything different? Look around. We have a brand spanking new ultra streamlined website that we are pretty proud of. Over the next few months this will be the place to be to hear about all the latest festival news, there will be sneak previews of things to come, some exciting promotions and maybe the odd surprise or two. We would love to hear what you think of the new and improved site as we want you to visit here often so your feedback is important to us. Let us know what you think right here.
But for right now anyway there are hours of film to be watched and a quest to be continued…..
